Argument in Angola leads to fatality, stabbing

Update: The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Jonathan Michael Abuja. The Steuben County Coroner has ruled his death a homicide. Amber Abuja remains in a Fort Wayne hospital.

ANGOLA, Ind. (WOWO): An early morning disagreement turned deadly as Angola has its first likely homicide of 2016.

Angola Police say in a press release that Edwin Garcia, 32, began fighting with a woman identified as Amber Abuja in the early morning hours Saturday. She was the woman that nearby residents reportedly heard screaming for help at around 3:30 a.m.

Police arrived and found a dead 30-year-old man that Abuja claims is her brother. His name and cause of death have not been determined yet. Meanwhile, Abuja herself had what appeared to be stab wounds. She was eventually taken to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Garcia was found in a nearby abandoned home. He’s now in Steuben County Jail. A K-9 was able to find what Angola police say is evidence critical to the investigation, but it’s not known publicly what that evidence is.

No further details are available.
