ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) – Two federal agencies are raising several issues about a proposed $400 million central Indiana reservoir, including the plan's failure to address alternatives to damming the White River.
<br /> The Herald Bulletin reports the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service say several issues must be addressed before the Mounds Lake Reservoir project can proceed.

The EPA says two studies for the proposed seven-mile reservoir that would run from Anderson into Delaware County fail to address alternatives to the construction.

The Fish and Wildlife Service says the proposed dam-and-reservoir project is unlikely to be the “least environmentally damaging” alternative and could threaten habitat of the Indiana bat and other species.

Economic Development Corp. Director Rob Sparks says the agencies' comments “are in-line with what we expected.”
