Federal Grand Jury in Fort Wayne Returns Indictment in Angola Fraud Case

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Monday afternoon, the United States Attorney's Office announced the indictment in an Angola fraud cause, that a Grand Jury sitting in Fort Wayne returned on December 17, 2014.

 

Three Michigan residents, 18-year-old Denez Rogers, 19-year-old Darius Puryear and 23-year-old Toya Denham, are all charged in the indictment with: (1)  conspiracy to knowingly and with intent to defraud use one or more counterfeit access devices on or about September 7, 2014, and; (2)  knowingly and with intent to defraud possessed fifteen or more counterfeit access devices on September 7, 2014.


The trio was charged back in September 2014, for using fraudulent credit cards to purchase gift cards at several large retailers in Angola.


According to investigators with the Angola Police Department, the case was transferred from the State level to the Federal level as of Monday morning.


If convicted in court, any specific sentence to be imposed will be determined by the judge.
