LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – The father of twin 3-year-old boys killed in a central Indiana house fire has been charged with two counts of neglect resulting in death and multiple drug offenses.

The Journal & Courier and WLFI-TV report 31-year-old Brandon Abbott was arrested Thursday and lodged in the Tippecanoe County Jail.

The April 5 fire near the town of Mulberry, about 50 miles northwest of Indianapolis, killed Landon and Liam Abbott. They were staying with their father, who escaped with burns.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined.

It's not clear whether Abbott has an attorney.
