Family of Pendleton Teen Want Sidewalks Where He was Killed

PENDLETON, Ind. (AP) – Family members of a 14-year-old Pendleton boy are calling for sidewalks on a busy roadway where the teen was struck by a vehicle and killed.

Pierce Resler died after being hit by a vehicle last Tuesday while walking with a friend along State Road 13. WTHR-TV (http://bit.ly/1zBqjfC ) reports the teen's loved ones have launched a fundraising effort to collect money for the installation of sidewalks or another type of safe path in the area.

His father, Jason Resler, says Pierce would want his death to serve as a catalyst for change and ensure the same thing doesn't happen to someone else.

He says he hopes to continue thinking of others first as Pierce would.
