Fake officer arrested at slain officer’s station

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Authorities say a man wearing a police uniform along the route of a slain Indianapolis police officer's funeral procession was arrested for impersonating an officer.

The 38-year-old man was spotted Thursday outside the police district station where Officer Rod Bradway was assigned.

Indianapolis police Detective Jeff Thomas says he's livid the man would falsely wear the police badge for which Bradway died. Thomas says the man's uniform and equipment would lead most people to believe he was an officer.

A search of the man's car turned up police scanners, a laptop computer, strobe lights and a loaded assault rifle in the trunk.

The man was jailed, and WTHR-TV reports he's due in court next week on charges of theft and impersonating an officer.
