FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The extremely cold temperatures are putting a halt to Tuesday’s garbage and recycling pick-up.  

For safety reasons, Republic Services will not collect garbage and recycling in the City of Fort Wayne January 28th. Temperatures are expected to plunge to 15 degrees below zero overnight and with a wind chill of more than 30 below the conditions are not safe for workers that often have to work outside of the collection trucks.

Garbage and recycling collection will run one day behind for the rest of the week. The schedule is as follows:

· Tuesday collection will be Wednesday January 29, 2014

· Wednesday collection will be Thursday January 30, 2014

· Thursday collection will be Friday January 31, 2014

· Friday collection will be Saturday February 1, 2014
