Ex-coach at Indianapolis school faces sex-related charges

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Federal prosecutors have charged the former boys basketball coach at an exclusive private school in Indianapolis with trying to entice a 15-year-old female student into a sexual relationship.

Prosecutors filed the charges Thursday against former Park Tudor coach Kyle Cox, who resigned Dec. 15.

The Indianapolis Star reports no plea was entered by Cox or defense attorney James Voyles during an initial court appearance.

Court documents say Cox sent sexually explicit messages to the girl for three months and tried to arrange sexual activity with her. The documents say Park Tudor’s attorney withheld information from police about allegations reported by the girl’s father in mid-December, leading to a Jan. 7 search of the school.

Voyles and a Park Tudor spokeswoman didn’t immediately return messages seeking comment.
