Eatery Names Sandwich after Olympian from Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ A diver who won gold and bronze medals at the London Olympics last year has become the seventh athlete from Purdue University to have a sandwich named after him by the Triple XXX restaurant in West Lafayette.

The David Boudia sandwich was unveiled on Wednesday. The Journal & Courier reports it’s loaded with cheese, bacon and mayonnaise, with a side of hash browns slathered in sausage gravy. The 24-year-old diver was there to sign autographs and to assemble the sandwich.

Other foods at the restaurant inspired by Purdue athletes include the peanut butter-laden Duane Purvis All-American burger, the Drew Brees breakfast special, the Ryan Kerrigan and the Leroy Loin.

Boudia says he’s honored to be the first non-football player athlete to be featured.
