Early Morning Crash in Gary Kills Three People

GARY, Ind. (WOWO): An early Sunday morning crash in Gary leaves three people dead.

 

According to our partners in news at 21 Alive, the crash happened just after 3:30 a.m., along I-80/94. 22-year-old Robert Hayes, of Illinois was driving westbound when he tried to pass a semi. He lost control of his car, went off the road and hit a barrier. The impact split his car in two. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

The passenger in the front seat, 21-year-old Shaquita Kendrick, also of Illinois, was ejected from the car and died at the scene. Three people were in the back seat of the car. One was pronounced dead at the scene while another later died at the hospital from injuries. The third was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

The Lake County Prosecutor's Office said criminal charges were pending review of the crash.
