Duke Energy: Payments mistakenly reported late…

PLAINFIELD, Ind. (AP) – Duke Energy is notifying customers in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio that it's taking steps to correct some of their monthly payments mistakenly being reported as late.

Duke said Tuesday the reports went to the National Consumer Telecom & Utilities Exchange, which maintains utility customer payment and account history data that can be used in credit-related decisions.

Duke says the error potentially affects more than 200,000 current and former residential customers in both Indiana and Ohio and about 43,000 in Kentucky who since 2010 enrolled in payment plans such as Budget Billing and, in Ohio, PIPP Plus. It says payment data for about 5,000 nonresidential customers on payment plans also may have been reported incorrectly to Dun & Bradstreet and Equifax Commercial Services.

Customers can call Duke at 800-265-6515 with questions.
