Downtown apartments commanding big price tags

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): It might be hard to believe, but a condo in downtown Fort Wayne just sold for a million dollars, and it’s not alone.

Ashberry Eight is converting the former Fifth Third Metro Center into an upscale retail, office and residential spot at the corner of Harrison and West Berry called 202Metro. Their spokesman tells the News-Sentinel seven out of 10 of the big-dollar homes are reserved already, although they probably won’t be move-in ready until this fall, and will feature what’s called a “luxury level of amenities.”

A recent study found a large demand for downtown living space over the next five years, with particular interest in so-called “high-end” housing.
