Don’t Miss the Earned Income Tax Credit

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): As the tax deadline looms, there’s another deadline that many Hoosiers may not be aware of.

That’s claiming an Earn Income Tax Credit for as late as 2010.

In a press conference Monday, Mike Claytor, a democrat candidate for State Auditor and Jack Morris, a democrat seeking the State Senate's 15th District seat reminded Hoosiers the Earned Income Tax Credit shouldn't be overlooked.

Claytor told those in attendance, the IRS allows tax payers to file an amended return for that year, Claytor says. But he adds, it must be done by the end of  business Tuesday night. It’s a incentive to encourage low income workers to continue to work.

The event was hosted by the Fort Wayne Urban League and the Wayne Township Trustee's office.

The return or amended return can be prepared and filed through local VITA offices, click here to find a location near you.
