INDIANA, (WOWO): As the weather cools, wearing a heavy coat becomes nearly automatic, but DNR officials are concerned you may forget to wear a life-jacket when you're on the water.
That’s a mistake that can be life threatening during a season when many enjoy kayaking or canoeing, duck hunting from a boat, or ice-fishing. They say water temperatures plummet, increasing the chance of hypothermia and the risk of drowning, particularly if you go overboard without a life-jacket.
Indiana law requires all vessels to carry one wearable U.S. Coast Guard approved personal floatation device for each person on board.
