Dog Rescued in Thursday Night Fire on City’s West Side

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne fire crews battled a house fire Thursday night on Fort Wayne’s west side. The first crews got to the scene around 7:30 P.M. and found smoke coming out of the basement of a home on Wildcat Cove, off of Sycamore Hills Drive. One person was in the home but evacuated before firefighters got to the scene. Crews searched for a missing dog in the home and found it uninjured. An investigation showed that the fire started when the occupant was spray-painting in the basement and the water heater kicked on, igniting the fumes. No injuries were reported.
