Dog Fighting Ring Suspects to Appear in Court

The 18 people busted for being involved in a dog fighting ring will be in court today. They’re being charged with animal fighting, which is a misdemeanor. 

Over the weekend, police acted on a tip that led them to the dog fighting contest in Churubusco.

Whitley County police get a tip that leads to arrest of 18 people, involved in a dog fighting operation… 

The tip was about a dog fighting ring that was going to happen in Churubusco. Police then got a warrant, and raided the home of Edward Smith on East State Road 205. He along with 17 others was arrested and three dogs were taken in by the Whitley County Humane Shelter. The 18 people are now being charged with animal fighting, and are being held on a $4,000 dollar bond.
