Dog Dies in Gaywood Drive House Fire

The Fort Wayne Fire Department was called out to a house fire just before 10:00 this morning on Gaywood Drive near Rudusill Boulevard.  When they arrived, firefighters found smoke coming from the basement windows. They entered and found the fire in the basement which had spread to the floor above. The blaze was quickly put out. No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. A dog died in the fire and was removed by animal control.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
