Doctor Faces Another Charge in Abortion Reporting

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ An Illinois doctor already charged with not properly reporting an abortion on a teenager in Lake County now faces the same charge in St. Joseph County.

The St. Joseph County prosecutor's office on Friday filed a misdemeanor count of failing to timely file a public report against Dr. Ulrich Klopfer of Crete, Illinois. A probable cause affidavit alleges Klopfer waited too long to report an abortion performed on a 13-year-old in January 2013. State law requires the report to file the report in three days.

Klopfer has previously said he finds it “amazing'' that a paperwork error could jeopardize his medical license.

A hearing on the St. Joseph County charge has been scheduled for July 18.
