JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) – A southern Indiana county's attorney says a planned road between an industrial park and an Ohio River port could end up costing $5.5 million more than had been expected.
Clark County Attorney Jake Elder says Native American artifacts may have been discovered in the proposed heavy haul corridor between the River Ridge Commerce Center and the Port of Indiana – Jeffersonville.
He says that if that discovery is confirmed it could increase the road's cost to as much as $28 million, well above the current projected price of $22.5 million.
County Commissioners President Jack Coffman tells the News and Tribune that if the cost rises, the project's partners would either have to increase their financial commitments or consider cost-cutting steps such as reducing its width.
