CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) – The grand opening of the new John Dillinger Museum on March 3 will just be a teaser for what the museum will be.
The museum, which is in the Old Lake County Courthouse, will feature partial exhibits when it opens on the anniversary of the notorious gangster escaping from the Crown Point jail.
The project faced an obstacle when Speros Batistatos, president and CEO of the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority, disapproved of initial display concepts produced by Group Delphi architects. Plans for completing the museum are now moving forward.
The Times of Northwest Indiana reports that the museum will be an interactive experience for visitors as they learn about Dillinger and other gangsters of the 1930s.
