DePauw U. Finds Party School Ranking ‘Absurd’

GREENCASTLE, Ind. (AP) _ The Princeton Review has released its annual list of top party schools, and DePauw University again finds itself in the top 20.

The Greencastle school is ranked No. 13 on this year's list. It was ranked 12th last year.

DePauw spokesman Ken Owen says the ranking is “both absurd and disappointing.'' He says it's absurd because The Princeton Review's own entry on DePauw notes the university is academically demanding with very high expectations of students and “requires lots of outside studying and discipline.''

Owen says the party school list is disappointing because it takes the very serious issue of binge drinking and commercializes it.

DePauw was the only Indiana university on the party school list. The University of Iowa is ranked No. 1 this year.
