Critical Injury Accident at the Intersection of Canterbury Drive and St. Joe Road

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): One person is in critical condition after a two car crash that happened Friday afternoon around 12:15 p.m., near the intersection of Canterbury Drive and St. Joe Road.

Officers discovered that both vehicles involved sustained significant damage.  Police say the Honda was traveling south on St. Joe Road at a high rate of speed when it rear-ended the Ford, sending it airborne through the intersection landing on top of a snow pile near the entrance of the Canterbury Green Apartment complex.

The driver of the Ford was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses told police that after the crash, the driver of the Honda exited his vehicle and punched the windshield of another car traveling northbound on St. Joe Road. The driver of that vehicle was not injured, but the driver of the Honda was transported to the hospital and reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators will continue to determine the cause of the accident and will check the driver of the Honda for possible intoxication of drugs and/or alcohol
