Crews Find Body of Man Swept Away in Southern Indiana Creek

NASHVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ Authorities in southern Indiana say they have found the body of a man who was swept away by floodwaters.

The Department of Natural Resources reports the man's body was found Tuesday afternoon in Brown County's Gnawbone Creek. The body was located about three-quarter miles from where the victim fell in.

The victim was identified as 37-year-old Travis Watkins.

State Conservation Officers Cpl. Angela Goldman says emergency workers began the search for Watkins shortly after people saw the man being swept away late Monday. He was trying to cross the creek to reach his grandmother's home following heavy rainfall.

Goldman says the creek receded and officers and firefighters from several agencies looked for Watkins starting from the point he was last seen in the area about 25 miles east of Bloomington.
