Crash in Kosciusko County claims 18-year-old’s life

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) – An 18-year-old was pronounced dead following a fatal crash in Kosciusko County.

Shorty after 5 p.m. Saturday, the Kosciusko County 911 Communications Center received multiple calls of a head-on collision in the 8400 block of north State Road 15.

When police arrived to the scene, they found two vehicles involved in the crash. Both had sustained heavy damage.

An investigation revealed a 2002 Honda Civic, driven by Keshawn Smith, 18 of Goshen, was traveling southbound on SR 15 when it crossed the center line into the oncoming lane of traffic.

A northbound 2013 Ford Expedition hit the Civic head-on.

The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office pronounced Smith dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the Expedition refused medical treatment.

The crash is still under investigation.
