MARION, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) — Court documents reveal shocking details of neglect in the death of a two-year old Marion girl.

Two-year old Arianna Carmack’s mother found her dead in her crib last week.
The mother’s friend, 27-year old Donald Riddle, lived in their mobile home and took care of Arianna and her older brother and sister while the mom worked second shift as an assistant manager at Taco Bell.
Court documents say the mother came home and left several times February 13th, slept, ordered and ate pizza with Riddle and showered… all while never checking on her daughter.
The detective quoted her as saying Riddle repeatedly told her that he already checked on Arianna and that she was asleep.
But when the mom went into the bedroom late that night, and pulled back the blanket covering Arianna’s whole body and face, she said the girl’s face was so red, she thought it was covered in blood, and she was stiff and not breathing.
The detective said Riddle never called 911 like the mother asked, even though he put his phone up to his ear.
He was gone by the time the mother ran back inside after getting a neighbor to help.
In the court documents, detectives say Riddle told them he never checked on Arianna from the time she went to sleep the night before until she was found even though he said he was her primary care giver.
Riddle also reportedly couldn’t answer why he didn’t check on Arianna or feed her during that time.
Court documents also say Arianna had no skin on her face, chest and back and burn doctors said that the burns were 24- to 48-hours old.
They also said it looked like her shirt caught fire during a flash burn and that the shirt wasn’t taken off quickly enough.
The doctors added that Arianna would not have died if she had received medical attention and that she would have been in extreme pain and distress during that time.
A not guilty plea was entered on Riddle’s behalf Wednesday afternoon and he was appointed a public defender.
He’s due back in court next month, and a trial is set for July.
He will be held without bond because this arrest is a probation violation for him.
