FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne City Council has voiced support for exploring options to help fund the Electric Works project.

In a 7-2 vote last night, the Council approved a nonbinding resolution that, while it doesn’t promise or commit public funding, it does let the developers that are renovating the former General Electric campus to look into potential public funding options.

The Journal Gazette reports RTM Ventures can also now try to get lease agreements from potential tenants.

Councilman John Crawford, one of the resolution’s sponsors, says the project still needs about $65-million in public investments to finalize project funding, and $13.5-million of that could come from the city’s Legacy Fund.
