Coroner: 2 unidentified Gary bodies skeletal…

CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) _ A coroner say three of seven women whom a man allegedly confessed to killing remain unidentified and she has renewed her appeal to the public for help.

Lake County Coroner Merilee Frey told reporters Wednesday that two largely skeletonized bodies pose the biggest challenges. She says both bodies are of African-American females. One had a silver-colored bracelet with the words “Best Aunt.''

Frey says skeletonization can occur in just weeks in some cases or take years, so when the deaths occurred isn't clear.

Frey says 17 different families have called her office inquiring about the bodies. One of those calls led to DNA tests that are currently being done of the third unidentified victim.

Police found six bodies in Gary after questioning 43-year-old Darren Vann in a seventh death.
