Construction Project Begins at I-69/Dupont Road Interchange

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Work gets under way Monday to make major changes to the I-69 interchange at Dupont Road.

IDOT begins ramp work that will reduce speeds to 35 miles per hour. The new speed restrictions will stretch from Dupont Commerce Court entrance to Parkview Plaza. The northbound I-69 off ramp to Dupont Road will also be restricted.

The ramp work is expected to continue until mid-May. It’s part of a $3.5 million plan to make it a divergent diamond interchange. The entire project is expected to be completed by fall.

IDOT officials urge motorists to be aware of construction crews and be prepared to stop.

The diverging diamond interchange and is the first of its kind in Indiana. Motorists will be guided to the left of the interchange with signals, signs and pavement markings.
