Congressman Stutzman Supports Iran Review Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WOWO): Congressman Marlin Stutzman has one thing in common with the Senator who occupies the seat he wants in 2016.

He agrees with Dan Coats that President Barack Obama shouldn't have exclusive authority to broker a nuclear agreement with Iran and voted in favor of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act in the House Thursday.

It's an issue that Coats, who is retiring, has been outspoken on lately. Stutzman is running for Coats' seat in 2016.

Here's his complete statement: “Due to the safety and security risks for our country, our close ally Israel, and the world at large, I remain highly skeptical of the president’s ongoing negations with Iran,” said Stutzman. “After the April release of the Obama Administration’s framework for a deal, many were left with more questions than answers – especially in light of the Iranians’ differing and often opposing interpretations of the framework. With this legislation, the House and Senate have rightly reclaimed congressional authority and will be able to review and block any bad deal that the president negotiates. As the deadline for a final agreement with Iran approaches, I look forward to working with my colleagues in exercising Congress’s fundamental oversight responsibilities on behalf of the American people.”

The bill now heads to Obama's desk for a signature.
