LAKE STATION, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana community is remembering a local teen who died after suffering a head injury in an all-terrain vehicle accident.
Haley Ralph of Lake Station was seriously injured when she fell off the back of an ATV last Wednesday. She was taken to an area hospital, where she died over the weekend.
An estimated 200 people gathered at Columbus Park for a vigil Friday night to pray and show support for Ralph. The (Munster) Times (http://bit.ly/1OdgPjx) reports that a procession of fire trucks, motorcycles and other vehicles drove through Lake Station on Sunday after her death.
Ralph was a student at River Forest High School in Hobart. She was a varsity cheerleader at the high school and was captain of her eighth-grade cheerleading squad.
Grief counseling services are being offered to her peers.
