Fort Wayne, Indiana (WOWO): The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne distributed a total of $1,435,110 in new grant awards to nonprofit agencies serving Allen County. Recipients included:
ACRES Inc. ($15,000) – Attainment, conservation, and management of nature preserves
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana ($27,000) – Youth mentoring programs pairing adults
with youth
Center for Nonviolence ($25,000) – Intervention and prevention services to men, women, and youth to end domestic and other forms of violence
Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana ($50,000) – Food distribution through various programs
Community Transportation Network ($45,000) – Specialized transportation
Euell A. Wilson Center ($25,000) – Youth development programs
Fort Wayne Ballet ($12,000) – Outreach and arts programs as well as the Ballet’s performances.
Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center ($25,000) – Forensic care to victims of sexual assault
Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity ($10,000) – Community building for affordable homeownership to low-to-moderate income families
Fort Wayne Museum of Art ($25,000) – Arts and arts education programming in Allen County
Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation ($15,000) – Arts and music program, the Percussion Theatre
Foundation for Art and Music in Elementary Education ($10,000) – Multicultural Arts Education programs
Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce Foundation ($10,000) – Graduate Retention Program
Healthier Moms and Babies ($10,000) – Health education and case management services to high-risk pregnant women
Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana ($40,000) – Pre-kindergarten-12 Economic Education Programs
League for the Blind and Disabled ($25,000) – Opportunities to empower people with disabilities
Martin Luther King Montessori School ($35,000) – Preschool Montessori education
Northeast Indiana Public Radio ($15,000) – Music, entertainment, and public discussion for two public radio stations;
Super Shot ($20,000) – Childhood immunization program in Allen County
YWCA Northeast Indiana ($35,000) – Domestic-violence, immigrant, and racial justice programs.
Established in 1922, the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne is a public, charitable foundation serving Allen County for ninety-two years. The Community Foundation had assets of approximately $140 million at December 31, 2013, and awarded more than $4.5 million in charitable grants and scholarships in that year.
The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne exists to serve as a community leader to improve the quality of life by building permanent endowments, promoting effective grant making, fostering philanthropy, stimulating community dialogue, and helping donors achieve their charitable goals.
