Columbia City Man Struck, Killed While Shoveling Snow

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (AP): Police say a pickup struck and killed a man who was shoveling snow at the end of the driveway at his northeastern Indiana home.

Whitley County authorities say 69-year-old Marvin Kinney was hit Wednesday while shoveling outside his home along Indiana 205 in a rural area a few miles from Columbia City. He was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital, where he was pronounced dead from head and internal injuries.

Police say the pickup truck lost control and slid into Kinney. The Post & Mail reports officers cited the 41-year-old driver of the pickup truck for driving left of center and at an unreasonable speed. Police say slush and ice on the road contributed to the crash.
