City Utilities Offers Informational Sessions for Sewer Improvements

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): City Utilities is offering ways for residents to learn more about the unfunded Federal mandates for sewer system improvements. A formal presentation and public Q&A session is scheduled for Monday night at 6:30 at Northrop High School. Open Houses will also take place Tuesday and Thursday of this week. City officials say the events offer an opportunity for residents to drop by and ask questions of staff members. You can learn about the improvements made in the first 6 years of the court-ordered Consent Decree, what improvements will take place in the next 5 years, and how the mandates will be funded. Fort Wayne is under court-order to greatly reduce the number of combined sewer overflows going to rivers, reduce sewage that backs up into homes, and operate and maintain the sewer system through repair and rehabilitation.
