City Utilities Customers Advised to Take Precautions as Temps Drop

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): As forecasters call for temperatures near zero this week, already frozen ground could combine to create problems for pipes. Frank Suarez, spokesman for the City of Fort Wayne, says City Utilities has gotten numerous calls from residents with frozen water meters or pipes. Customers are advised to take precautions like running a small stream of water, wrapping pipes that are in unheated areas, and opening doors below sinks, especially if the sink is against an outer wall.
