City to Buy Flood-Prone Properties

Fort Wayne, Ind. (WOWO): City Council gave the green light to purchase six flood prone properties.

The Fort Wayne homes – on Fernwood Avenue and Dalevue Drive – are in Waynedale and they are part of the city’s plan to control flooding.

The price tag tallies about 480 thousand dollars. The city says that area along the Fairfield Ditch has been a problem spot for years. They'll put in a huge storm water pipe to reduce flooding and when complete it should last for another 100 years.
