City Pools Receive Excellent Report in Random Audit

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Calling it an excellent report, Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation released results from a random audit. Ellis & Associates International Aquatic Safety & Risk Management Consultants performed an observational audit of Memorial, McMillen, and Northside pools recently. The audits are done randomly to help clients evaluate their aquatic safety and risk management operations.

In a release from the Parks & Recreation Department, officials say the following are some of the results of the audit:

Most of the lifeguards observed provided swimmer surveillance which exceeded the standard. All lifeguards maintained a professional image. Supervisors exceeded standards.

Individual and team skills observed met or exceeded all standards. Appropriate care was given when necessary. Backboarding, strapping and head immobilization protocols meet standards and stabilization is consistently maintained throughout the scenario.

All Facility items are present, in order, and meet the standard. All Facility equipment is present and in proper operational working order. Supervisors are observed taking time to stop and watch on-duty lifeguards. Administrative items were readily available for inspection, properly updated and organized.
