City Officials to Determine Fate of Fort Wayne Police Officer

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne Police officer will find out next month if he will be charged for not completing an investigation in the required amount of time.

The News-Sentinel reports Officer Thomas K. Andrews served his first suspension in 1994 for failing to complete an investigation in a timely manner. Since then, police have discovered other instances of investigative negligence on Andrews' behalf.

Fort Wayne's Board of Public Safety was set to look at his case on Thursday, but the meeting was postponed until January 8th. The Fort Wayne Police Chief told the News-Sentinel, the board could vote to suspend or fire Andrews at their next meeting.

During his time with the force, Andrews has received 13 suspensions and four letters of reprimand.
