FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – The City of Fort Wayne will host a public meeting to receive feedback regarding access to affordable and safe housing in the community.

The Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services is inviting community residents to attend one of two public meetings to discuss fair housing.

A fair housing assessment, officially called an Analysis of Impediments to fair housing choice, is required every five years.

The assessment examines local demographic and housing data, local zoning and planning documents, fair housing programs, and state and local statutes and ordinances.

The assessment also gathers information through interviews with local planners, housing advocates, social service providers, government officials and the public to identify any fair housing barriers.

The first meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 12, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the McMillen Park Community Center, 3901 Abbott St.

The second meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 13, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Many Nations Church, 5100 Gaywood Dr.

Anyone with questions or concerns should contact the city 48 hours in advance by phone at 260-427-2150 or email at ohns@cityoffortwayne.org.
