City of Fort Wayne announces official trick-or-treat hours

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back and kids are back in school. That must mean fall is in the air.

The Fort Wayne Police Department is feeling it too and announced the official trick-or-treat hours for the city of Fort Wayne.

Trick-or-treating will be observed during the hours of 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. During those hours, kids should only visit homes with a porch light on, which indicates trick-or-treaters are welcome.

A list of safety rules are below.

· Do not wear costumes that obscure your vision
· Wear reflective clothing, or light colored clothing to make you more visible to motorists
· Travel in groups composed of at least one adult
· Have a pre-planned route
· Only cross streets at the crosswalks
· Visit familiar homes, and do not enter a stranger’s home
· Be prepared for adverse weather
· Refrain from consuming any treats until inspected by an adult
