City leaders and residents of the Fernwood area in Waynedale celebrated the completion of a flood control project in that neighborhood.
Residents there have been tackling chronic flooding since the 1950's.
It includes a 1,800-foot earthen berm to restrain flood waters from the Fairfield Ditch. It also includes improved, larger storm pipes and drainage.
The project cost about $422,000 to complete.
