City Completes Waynedale Flood Project

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Worries about flooding in Waynedale will likely be a only a memory.

City leaders and residents of the Fernwood area in Waynedale celebrated the completion of a flood control project in that neighborhood.

Residents there have been tackling chronic flooding since the 1950's.

It includes a 1,800-foot earthen berm to restrain flood waters from the Fairfield Ditch. It also includes improved, larger storm pipes and drainage. 

The project cost about $422,000 to complete.
