City Clerk Sandy Kennedy Officially Resigns

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The official resignation of City Clerk Sandy Kennedy has been filed.

Her attorney Mark GiaQuinta read a statement during the Tuesday night Fort Wayne City Council meeting informing of the resignation that was filed earlier in the day. Our partners in news at 21 Alive report the paperwork was filed at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Most on the City Council were complimentary of her service and thanked her for the past 35 years as a friend and colleague.  They also said in light of recent reports, the City Clerk budget will be reviewed at the next council meeting.  They also said that any concerns can be reviewed by an ethics board.

The resignation comes after a video was obtained to the News Sentinel that appears Kennedy told staff members they could lose their job for not supporting an upcoming fundraiser for Angie Davis.

The Allen County Democratic Party confirmed earlier this week that Kennedy would resign, but said it was due to medical reasons.
