Christmas Bureau looks to bring holiday cheer to less fortunate

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): An Allen County agency’s goal is to make sure nobody goes without a Merry Christmas.

Jane Surbeck of the Allen County Christmas Bureau tells WOWO News what gave her the inspiration to get involved 27 years ago:

“I can remember when my daughter was little, I had green stamps. That’s all I had. I tried to buy two toys for her, and I couldn’t because I didn’t have the cash to pay the tax… I don’t think anyone should have to (go through) that.”

The Christmas Bureau adopts families selected by case managers at several social service agencies in Allen County, and then volunteers provide gifts, a Christmas Day meal, food for the family’s pantry, and hygiene products.

This year they’re helping 359 families.

Hello I was wondering how I sign up for for the Christmas bureau. I have 3 children and 1 on the way. We are currently behind on all of our bills and close to eviction. I have tried everything just to get them something so they still believe in Santa. It’s been such a hard year for us financially for us and we just can’t seem to caught a break. I would really appreciate so info on how to sign up this is our last hope..
