Work is underway for the Parkview Physicians Pavilion.  The pavilions, when open in the spring, will seat up to 400.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A new addition for 2015 will make the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo more accommodating for larger groups and more family-friendly, according to officials.

Work is underway for a pair of pavilions that will accommodate as many as 400 people for events and gatherings at the zoo.

Thursday, Zoo Director Jim Anderson announced work was underway for the Parkview Physicians Pavilions. He says they've been thinking about project for about 10 years. Original plans for the African Journey renovation included the idea. Ultimately, budget concerns tabled the proposal.

Anderson says the pavilions will make the zoo more attractive for corporate events and school groups, including company picnics and outings. He says it also in enhances catering options for groups considering the zoo.

The pavilions are in the African Journey area, near the Skyride and should be ready by the spring.
