Child in Critical Condition after four Vehicle Crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A woman and 10-year-old were injured in a crash on Sunday.

Fort Wayne police were called just before 3:00 p.m. to the intersection of Magnavox Way and Illinois Road, once there they realized four vehicles were involved in the crash.

According to police, three of the vehicles were traveling eastbound on Illinois Road and were stopped for a traffic light at Magnavox Way.  The fourth vehicle involved was traveling eastbound on Illinois Road, failed to stop for the traffic light, and rear-ended the other three vehicles that were stopped.

A woman was taken to a local hospital in stable condition and a 10-year-old was transported in serious condition.  The child’s condition was later downgraded to critical condition.

The driver that rear-ended the vehicles had a complaint of pain and was also taken to the hospital.

As of right now, police don’t believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash, but it’s still under investigation.
