ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): The case of two Fort Wayne children kidnapped, then apparently murdered by their biological mother on Monday, has had a big impact on the police officers involved.

On Monday, Amber Pasztor flagged down an Elkhart officer. She told the officer that two dead children were inside the vehicle.

When the officer examined the vehicle, he saw 7-year-old Lilliana Hernandez and 6-year-old Rene Pasztor dead in the backseat.

“The Elkhart police office who was flagged down, was traumatized when he looked in that vehicle, and these are the people who deal with these types of things every day,” Elkhart County Prosecutor Curtis Hill said.

The children’s mother, Pasztor of Fort Wayne, has yet to be formally charged, but is facing likely murder charges. A man connected to the case, 65-year-old Frank Macomber, was found dead in a wooded area near the home of the children on Tuesday.
