Charges Filed for Elkhart Store Shooting Deaths

ELKHART, Ind. (AP): Prosecutors have filed murder charges against a man in the shooting deaths of the owner and an employee of a northern Indiana convenience store.

The Elkhart County prosecutor's office on Wednesday filed two counts of murder against 28-year-old Kevin Moore of Elkhart. He's charged in last week's deaths of 55-year-old Jagtar Bhatti and 20-year-old Pawan Singh at Saleh's Market east of downtown Elkhart.

The Elkhart Truth reports that police arrested Moore several hours after the shootings. Police said two masked men committed the shootings, but Moore is the only person arrested so far.

Moore is jailed without bond and is scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Thursday. Court records don't yet list an attorney for him.
