Charges dropped for accused rapist before Kosciusko County trial can start

WARSAW, Ind. (WOWO): A jury trial was cancelled and charges of rape against an Illinois man were dropped this week.

21 year old Charles Williams was scheduled to appear for a three-day jury trial in Kosciusko County Circuit Court this week, but the charges were dismissed before the trial could begin.

Williams was arrested for rape and sexual battery in September 2014 after an incident at the Wyndham Gardens parking lot the prior month.

A second man, 32 year old Oscar Steven McDowell of Chicago, also was arrested. He has a four-day jury trial set for May of this year. The reason for the charges being dropped against Williams is unclear.
