Chalk Walls Coming to Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Artlink, a contemporary art gallery in the Summit City and the Love, Fort Wayne project, are teaming up to launch the first ever, #FWChalked Chalk Wall project.

Huge chalk walls are going up in specific locations around the city, to encourage people to share what they love about their neighborhood or downtown.

The idea was inspired by the Before I Die Movement, which encourages people to reflect on what they hope to accomplish before they die,” says Deb Washler, executive director of Artlink. “The project has morphed as it spreads across the globe and ideas like 'I come downtown because' or 'I love my city because' have started to spring up.”

The first #FWChalked Chalk Wall was installed at Wunderkammer last week and people have already started to share their thoughts. Future locations include Firefly Coffeehouse, The Arts Campus, and Parkview Field.

“I was excited when Deb approached me about a collaboration between Love, Fort Wayne and Artlink,” says Amber Recker, team leader for the Love, Fort Wayne project. “We want to be part of this movement and can't wait to see how the conversation evolves as we continue to spread positive messages about our city.”
