Central Indiana Man Gets 10 Years on Gun Charges

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Federal prosecutors say a central Indiana man accused of manufacturing machine guns and other firearms has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

They say 49-year-old Jackie Richardson of Coatesville was sentenced Tuesday after being convicted of one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of unlawfully possessing a machine gun.

Prosecutors say Hendricks County sheriff's deputies responding to a domestic violence report at Richardson's home about 30 miles west of Indianapolis in December 2011 found evidence of an illegal gun manufacturing operation. Deputies and federal agents recovered about 175 firearms including 35 fully automatic machine guns, various firearms parts and over 59,000 rounds of ammunition.

A message seeking comment was left for Richardson's attorney.
