Celebratory Gunfire is Illegal on New Year’s Holiday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Police Department says firing your gun to ring in the New Year is illegal.

City Police Chief Garry Hamilton told the Journal Gazette, “Do not do it. If you do, be advised that we will use all our resources to find who you are and to prosecute you.”

Charges for discharging a firearm within city limits can include a misdemeanor or even a felony, resulting in prison time.
